Contacting your utility suppliers
You will need to set up accounts with the companies that supply water, gas and electricity to your property. Here's how to go about it:
Water Phone Yorkshire Water on 0845 1242420. If your water supply is on a meter, take a reading before setting up your account. Yorkshire Water will give you full instructions on how to do this. Check our their website - www.yorkshirewater.com for more information.
Gas Call British Gas on 0845 600 5122 or online www.house.co.uk. Again, they'll need a meter reading before switching the account over to your name. If the current supplier isn't British Gas, call Transco on 0870 6081524 to find out who is. Check www.energywatch.org.uk for more information. In case of a gas emergency (ie, if you smell gas), call the Transco Gas Emergency Line on 0800 111 999
Electricity Call Npower on 0845 070 9494 or online www.npower.com. If they are not the current supplier, call NEDL Meter Point Administration Service on 0845 6013268 to get the name of the current supplier. Call the supplier direct to set up your new account.
