BRADFORD - LEEDS' SISTER CITY
Leeds' phenomenal growth over the last decade has rather overshadowed its sister city of Bradford, with which it has been inextricably linked since the Industrial Revolution. The grand Victorian civic buildings in Bradford's city centre, and the fine residences dotted about the surrounding hills, attest to the city's heritage as a once-burgeoning centre of the worldwide woollen trade.
Today, a new wind of change is reinvigorating Bradford as the municipality undertakes a massively ambitious urban regeneration scheme which is the envy of the rest of Europe. Over the next decade and a half, the entire city centre will be transformed into a hugely imaginative, people-friendly cityscape of urban parkways and waterways, drawing both residents and visitors back into the city centre.
As a result, Bradford is once again on the hot property radar, generating interest from investors and developers far and wide. The city's already healthy housing stock is about to be augmented with stylish schemes incorporating cutting edge living/working/shopping/entertaining spaces for a new breed of Bradfordian city dweller. As one of the UK's most developer-friendly cities, with Bradford today, it's quite literally a matter of 'watch this space'.
